The National Museum of the Royal Navy and the University of Portsmouth form new partnership
The National Museum of the Royal Navy and the University of Portsmouth's Centre for Port Cities and Maritime Cultures have formalised their partnership with a three-year MoU.
This agreement fosters collaboration on research, funding, and community projects, enhancing access to naval history. Simultaneously, NMRN's CEO, Matthew Sheldon, is appointed Visiting Research Fellow, strengthening academic and practical expertise exchange.
HMS Victory shortlisted for best conservation project
HMS Victory: The Big Repair has been named as one of the UK’s best conservation and restoration projects, following stellar progress over the last 12 months in the ambitious effort to preserve the 18th-century ship for future generations.
The ten-year scheme, scheduled for completion in 2032, has been commended by the Museums + Heritage Awards (dubbed the Oscars of the museums world), for its innovative and creative approach to restoring Britain’s most famous warship.

The Princess Royal Pays a Royal Visit to Fleet Air Arm Museum
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal paid a special visit to Barracuda Live: The Big Rebuild at Fleet Air Arm Museum, which is celebrating it’s 60th birthday this year after being opened by HRH Prince Phillip in 1964.
The Princess Royal was able to meet staff and volunteers whilst viewing first-hand the project aiming to save the world's only Second World War Fairey Barracuda from extinction.
